How to save a victim of caught in fire

There are many places where a fire can start. It is impossible to predict when this will happen but there are procedures you can follow if a victim is trapped in a burning building. Obviously, you want to be extremely careful and observe your surroundings.
The first step is to call 911. Do not delay because time is of the essence. Call the fire department as soon as possible. As you slowly make your way through the fire area, call out to see if there are others who are trapped.

The second step is to stay as close to the ground as possible. Smoke can cause death faster than you might think. If possible, put a damp cloth to your mouth and nose. This will likely make it easier to breathe. The third step is to use the back of your hand and touch the doors. If the door is warm, then do not open it. In that case, try to find another way inside. After you open a door, keep it open. By doing this, it will be easier for the firefighters to move through the building. The fourth step is to move as fast as possible through the building that is on fire. Go to the closest stairway. Move as quickly as possible to the first floor and then out of the building. You do not want to go up floors in a building that is on fire. As you find people in the people, grab them and everyone should stay together. Do not use the elevators. Remember to use caution. When you have rescued everyone, leave the premises without delay.

The above steps are general steps if you find yourself in a situation where a building is on fire. These steps will not apply to every situation. In fact, opinions vary as to what a person should do if you encounter a burning building. Some professionals recommend that you never enter a burning building unless you are trained as a firefighter. They feel that the risks are just too great for an untrained individual.
